Ruminating the 11th Hour

—–“There!” Sam felt a moment of relief wash over her. She hadn’t been to where her parent’s worked often, but she had found their lab within all the other ones. She ran her hand across both her parents’ names on the placard outside of the door. With what she knew was a false sense of hope she pushed the lever down on the door to open it. Peeking inside slowly, thinking if she didn’t scare away the possibility, she hoped they would be in there, waiting for her. The further she opened the door, the further her heart sank back into her stomach.

—–Sam stepped into the empty room.
