Ruminating the 11th Hour

Sam felt the hand of a giant push against her back, she could more feel than hear the roar of atmosphere rush past her, threatening to throw her through the doorway. Sam held tight to the smooth metal of the steel frame doorway as the giant’s grip relented. She wasn’t sure how she got to the shipyard, or how long it took but Sam stood and stared at the remnants of a shattered hangar with bits, pieces, and chunks of station and ship colliding against one another soundlessly.

Sam was thrilled that she had been able to get here without incident, but her fears and worries threatened to choke her as she stood frozen. “This is the safest spot?” she thought, concern welling up inside her for how much worse it could be if this were where she was supposed to retreat to.
